COOKING CLASS FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are classes generally like? (Updated: January 2023)

We offer several types of classes. Most classes are two hours long, unless otherwise specified.

  • Hands-on classes (In Person): You will join us at Relish Kitchen Store for a hands-on class. In these classes, you do the majority of the cooking. You will be standing, cooking and working in groups with other students.

  • Demonstrations (In Person). You will join us at Relish Kitchen Store, where you will reap the yummy rewards of watching our chef instructors’ work and talent.

  • Zoom classes (Cook from Home). You will cook from the comfort of your own kitchen, live via Zoom with one of our chef instructors and other participants. We will email you the recipes, grocery shopping list, and Zoom link one week before the scheduled class.

  • We guarantee excellent chef instruction, delicious food, and a packet of the featured recipes. Attendees at an in-person class will also receive a 10% store discount on the day of the class!

What precautions have you taken to address COVID-19?

As a result of COVID-19 (and other assorted ailments and injuries), Relish suspended all cooking classes for almost three years. Crazy. But, we weathered the storms and are thrilled to be reopening the Relish kitchen for public cooking classes in March 2023.

What’s changed? Our in-person cooking classes at Relish are largely the same: still hands-on and still getting to taste your work. But there are some updates. Masks are not required, but we will not judge anyone who prefers to wear one. Also, we’re probably going to ask you to wash your hands more frequently. Gloves and hand sanitizer are also available. Safety first!

What’s not changed? Our cooking classes are still a blast, with yummy food and excellent instruction.

Do we get to eat in the classes?

Absolutely! You will receive a generous tasting of all the prepared dishes. For most classes, it is enough for a light meal.

What should I wear?

We recommend comfortable, casual clothing. For your safety, please wear close-toed shoes and tie back long hair.

What are the age requirements to attend a class?

The minimum age for general classes is 18 years old unless otherwise noted. We may have special classes specific to younger age groups with parental permission. If you have additional questions about classes for younger students, please contact us at 920-458-1898.

What time should I arrive for in-person classes?

Check in starts 20 minutes prior to the class. Feel free to come early and browse the store. You never know what fun things you’ll find at Relish, and you’ll receive a 10% off coupon for taking the class!

Do I have to register in advance?

All classes require advance registration and payment via our website with a credit card or payment in-store at Relish. If you’ve received a gift certificate for a class, please register in person at Relish or by calling 920-458-1898.

What if I can't make it or forget to come to a class that I'm registered for?

We plan our class experience and order supplies based on attendance, so we are not able to refund your fee or transfer it to another class should you cancel or miss a class. You can absolutely send a substitute person in your place (just give us a courtesy heads up). Please consider your schedule carefully when signing up for a class and make sure you write it down on a calendar. Exceptions will be made for emergencies: please call Relish at 920-458-1898 should this occur.

The class I wanted to register for is marked SOLD OUT on the website. Can I still get in?

If you are interested in a class that is sold out, please call Relish at 920-458-1898 to be put on the waiting list. If enough people are on the waiting list, we may schedule an additional class!

What happens if my class is canceled?

We reserve the right to cancel any class with insufficient enrollment or if winter weather causes problems. If Relish cancels a class, a member of the store staff will notify you and issue you a refund or credit toward a future class. Whenever possible, classes will be rescheduled.

How much do the classes cost?

The majority of our classes are between $69-99. This can change based on the type of class, the instructor, and other variables.

Do you offer private classes for groups?

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes! Check out our Private Events page for more details.

What if I have a food allergy?

We ask you to please take caution if you have food allergies or sensitivities. Our recipes use common ingredients that may not be specifically called out in the class menu. This includes different fruits and vegetables, nuts and nut butters, wheat flours, dairy, meats, sweeteners, spices, and more. If you have a food allergy, please discuss with Relish before signing up for the class (adjustments will not be made during class). Minor ingredient changes may be considered prior to the class.

Relish is NOT an allergen-free environment. We cannot guarantee that cross contact with allergens will not occur and neither Relish nor our employees or chefs assume any responsibility for a person's sensitivity or allergy to any food item prepared in our classes.

Do you allow service animals in the kitchen?

Relish is pet-friendly and welcomes animals to visit our retail store. However, no pets or emotional support animals are allowed in our demonstration kitchen, for food safety reasons. (Legitimate ADA service animals are welcome. If you’re bringing an ADA service animal to class, please give us a heads up at 920-458-1898… we’d like to make sure we’re set up in advance and can make your service animal comfortable.)
